Warning strategy
A threshold can be defined as the value of a monitored variable with a given probability of landslide occurrence. Once the thresholds values for one or more monitored variables are defined, it is important to combine them in rules for issuing different warning levels. Through a decisional algorithm it is possible to define the main thresholds responsible for the activation of warning levels in a certain warning zone. Each warning level may activate one or more procedures that agencies, authorities and people need to follow with the aim of reducing the level of risk to life in in a certain warning zone, i.e. the portion of territory alerted with the same level of warning.
